Smoky skies expected to improve slightly

Although Kevin Skrepnek of BC Wildfire Service said on Saturday, August 5th, that they are expecting smoke to improve slightly this week, and especially in the coastal region, we are still seeing a fair bit of smoke today.

Smoke is expected to persist in much of the province, although smoke has the potential to reduce a little bit going into the week according to Skrepnek. Towards the end of the week, inflow winds are expected to assist with reducing some smoke in the coastal region of the province, sending it east.

The Smoky Skies Bulletin issued by The Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Strategy, in collaboration with the Interior and Northern Health Authorities, continues due to smoky conditions.

Smoke concentrations are expected to vary widely as winds, fire behaviour, and temperatures change.
