Several temperature records broken across BC Interior on mixed day of weather

It was an odd day of weather in British Columbia on Monday.

Parts of the province saw relatively cool temperatures, while others broke records for heat.

According to Environment Canada, the following places set new records on Oct. 14:

  • Castlegar: New record of 23.3ºC; previous record of 22.6ºC set in 1991

  • Cache Creek (Ashcroft): Tied record of 23.7ºC, which was set in 2022

  • Cranbrook: New record of 23.5ºC; previous record of 22.2ºC set in 1958

  • Sparwood: New record of 21.3ºC; previous record of 21ºC set in 1979

The department added that the records “may contain preliminary” data that could be changed in a final report.
