Kelowna weather: Environment Canada issues ‘extreme cold warning’

More unseasonably cold temperatures will grip the Central Okanagan today.

Environment Canada has issued an ‘extreme cold warning’, which says the “bitterly cold temperatures and dangerous wind chill values” will continue until the end of the work week.

Today is expected to be sunny, but the high is -21°C and it will feel close to -40°C with the wind chill.

That comes with a “risk of frostbite,” Environment Canada warns.

You can expect clear skies tonight as it falls down to a low of -27°C, but once again it will feel close to 10 degrees colder with the wind chill.

There is some relief on the horizon, as temperatures are forecast to gradually rise on Thursday and Friday before reaching daytime highs in the negative single digits this weekend.

More snow is on the way for the weekend as well, which will certainly excite some ahead of Christmas on Sunday.
