BC could see 'excessive rainfall,' but also 'much stronger' start to ski season, this fall: Weather Network

Most of Canada can expect above-normal temperatures this fall, according to The Weather Network.

But not British Columbia, where bog-standard autumn temperatures are on tap.

The forecaster also warned of the risk of an “excessive rainfall event” in the province as “alternating periods of warm and cold weather” balance each other out.

Southern BC, the network said, is expected to see above-normal rainfall.

“However, this pattern should also support a much stronger start to the ski season than last year,” it added.

Chris Scott, The Weather Network’s chief meteorologist, said that elsewhere in the country the “transition to consistent autumnal weather will be slower than what we typically see.”

He added: "Extended periods of pleasant fall weather are expected to last well into October, especially across the eastern half of the country.

“However, we are closely watching the potential for an abrupt transition to a colder pattern before the end of the fall season."
