7th annual Sweet 16 basketball tournament returns to Immaculata Regional High School

Most of the top junior girls basketball teams in B.C. are battling it out at the seventh annual Sweet 16 tournament in Kelowna this weekend.

Beginning today, Immaculata Regional High School is playing host to 15 teams from throughout B.C. and one returning team from Alberta in the three-day event.

For the past seven years, the event has drawn crowds of hundreds to Immaculata and the co-hosting gym of Okanagan Mission Secondary.

Teams will resume play tonight and Friday, while the tournament comes to a head on Saturday. The championship game begins at 2 p.m.
