Nitro Circus athlete Bruce Cook visits KelownaNow

Few can say they learned to back flip dirt bikes thanks to extreme sports legend Travis Pastrana.

However, working with the Nitro Circus boss is only a side note in Bruce Cook’s inspiring story.

Performing with Nitro Circus in 2014, Cook suffered a career-threatening injury during an attempt at a record-setting double front flip.

The crash left the Kelowna native paralyzed below the waist, but only briefly slowed Cook’s chase to set a world record.

The freestyle motocross athlete still travels the world with Nitro Circus and has now become the first paraplegic to successful land a motocross back flip.

This Spring, Nitro Circus and its highflying show featuring Cook will be performing at Kelowna's Apple Bowl on May 24.

KelownaNow sat down with Cook to discuss rebounding from a life-changing injury, traveling the world with Nitro Circus and returning home for Kelowna’s largest FMX event in its history.
