The BC Lions are on a mission to write their names in the history books tonight as they face the Edmonton Elks.
The Elks are currently 0-7 this season and have not won a home game since 2019, a losing streak that has spanned 20 games and tied the record for most consecutive home losses in North American major sports.
With a win today, the Lions would extend Edmonton's streak to 21 and help their West Division foes set a new record that the Elks certainly want no part of.
This is the second time the two teams will face off this season, with BC shutting out the Elks 22-0 in June.
But there is a difference this time around, as BC’s starting quarterback, Vernon Adams Jr., is out with an injury.
Receiving the call to lead the offence is Dane Evans, who is more than capable to help the Leos get another win.
Evans is one of, if not the most experienced backups in the entire league. He led the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to a 15-3 record and a Grey Cup appearance in 2019 after replacing injured starter Jeremiah Masoli.
With a number of talented receivers on the Lions' roster, their offence is in good hands for this upcoming matchup.
BC continues to hold their number two position in the CFL power rankings, boosted by their performance last week against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Keeping the Lions that high in the rankings is one of the league’s best defensive groups. The Leos have caused opponents headaches for weeks, especially in the trenches as BC continues to dominate in pass rushing.
Game time is 4 pm today and with a win the Lions would move to 6-1. You can catch all the action on TSN.
