The Coyotes will host the University of Calgary Dinos over the Thanksgiving weekend for a four-game set.
The Dinos in 2017 finished with a 5-17 record and went 0-4 in the 2017 CCBC Championship tournament.
“The Dinos have a couple of dangerous hitters in Cam Williams and Mike Zaunnuto that have hurt us before. Those will be some of the guys we will key on,” says Coyotes Head Coach Geoff White.
The Coyotes only had four games in the 2017 regular season against the Dinos where the Coyotes took three of four and outscored them 41-15.
The Coyotes feature a lot of familiar faces in 2017, offensively, Brandon Graham (Senior, INF, Prince George), Jared Frew (Senior, INF, Calgary AB) and Jake Fischer (Junior, C, Edmonton, AB) will look to lead at the plate and on the field.
“We have a nice balanced attack with this roster we have guys who can run and get on base and guys who can hit for extra bases and drive in runs,” says White.
On the mound, this weekend will feature Senior Cole Parusinni (RHP, Port Coquitlam), Trevor Brigden (Junior, RHP, Toronto, ON) and Chris Wyslobocki (Freshman, RHP, Toronto, ON).
“Cole has been a staple in our rotation for a while now and has been consistent and likes to compete. Brigden was our closer last year and was outstanding, we are looking at moving him to the rotation for 2018.”
“Wyslobocki is a new face that has made an impression early, showing three pitches, good tempo, and competes. These are just a few of our pitching staff that has shown flashes of being tough,” finishes White.
The weekend schedule is Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Sunday's game at 1 p.m. is admission with a nonperishable food item that will be going to the Kelowna Food Bank.
