The Kelowna AquaJets have announced that a new head coach will be leading the award winning team for the upcoming season.
Lois Daigneault will take over for former head coach Peter Wilkins, who resigned at the end of the 2015 season to pursue other endeavours. Daigneault is a two-time member of the Canadian National Swim Team and an Olympic Trial qualifier. She also excelled in swimming at the University of Miami, winning 13 All American awards. In her 28 years of professional experience, Daigneault’s resumé includes Head Coach of the 1996 Macedonian Olympic Swimming Team, Head Coach of the Chateauguay Aquatic Club in Montreal, Head Coach of the Santa Fe Aquatic Club, and Head Coach and owner of Peak Performance Swim Camp in Orlando, Florida.
“We are lucky to have found Lois. This is a very exciting time for the AquaJets, and no doubt this club is going to take off”, said parent and board member, Clive Elkin. Elkin’s daughter, Megan, who will swim with Lois, adds “She seems so fun and full of excitement – she is going to work us hard, but it will be worth it”.
Daigneault also has a background in sports medicine/psychology, which helps to enhance her coaching skills. Coach Lois will be running an introductory swim camp scheduled for August 24th to 28th from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at the H2O Aquatic Center. Swimmers of all ages are invited to participate. Everyone can register at kelownaaquajets.com. For new and returning swimmers, the 2015-2016 swimming season will begin on Tuesday, September 8th.
