Okanagan Teams Dominate Ringette Provincials

Okanagan teams had a big weekend at Ringette Provincials in Vernon.

In the U14A division the Coquitlam Port Moody Ringette Assocation (CPMRA) won the Gold medal over Vernon by a score of 7-6. Kelowna Ringette ended up with Bronze after losing to Vernon in the semi-final game by a score of 4-2. Kelowna had finished the round robin tied with CPMRA at seven points each but CPMRA advanced to the final based on goal differentials.

In the U14B division Westside Ringette won gold by defeating the Delta team by a score of 6-5. Kelowna settled for the Bronze medal after losing 5-2 in the semi-final to Delta. Westside went undefeated in the round robin outscoring their opponents 27-11 overall.

In the U16 division Kelowna won the gold medal by defeating their Okanagan rivals, Vernon by a score of 2-0. Richmond won Bronze after losing 10-3 to the Vernon Silver medalists. Kelowna went undefeated in the round robin with Vernon second. Kelowna won the round robin game vs Vernon by a score of 5-4. These two squads have been so close all year. Vernon had won the gold medal in the Sweetheart tournament in February after beating Kelowna 2-1 in the final.

The U16B was a Kelowna Gold medal finish after Kelowna won 4-3 over Fraser Valley. Westside won Bronze after losing 6-2 to the Silver medal Fraser Valley team in the semi-final.

The Kelowna Ringette Association were the gold medal winners in the U19A division with a 5-4 win over Surrey Whiterock. Fraser Valley won the Bronze medal after losing to Surrey Whiterock 9-8. Kelowna finished in first place in the round robin earning the spot in the final. Their only loss in the round robin was to Fraser Valley by a score of 5-4.

In the U19B division the Kelowna squad won 6-0 defeating the Burnaby New West team. Kelowna was undefeated in the round robin and only allowed nine goals in all the games including the final. PCMRA won the Bronze medal after losing to Burnaby New West 7-4 in the semi-final.

In the Open A division (18+) the Kelowna Ringette team won 8-6 over the Prince George team. Surrey Whiterock won Bronze after losing 6-3 to Prince George in the semi-final. Kelowna went undefeated in the round robin and scored 19 goals vs allowing 11 in the round robin games.
