Iginla shines as Rockets extend win streak to 4 consecutive games

The Kelowna Rockets are slowly beginning to climb the WHL standings after starting the season with five losses.

The Rockets were on the road in Wenatchee and extended their win streak to four games after defeating the Wild 4-0 last night.

Kayden Longley put the Rockets on the board near the halfway mark of the middle frame after a scoreless first period.

Tij Iginla then gave the Rockets a cushion on the scoreboard later in the period when he stripped the puck from a Wenatchee defender and buried it with a backhand shot, all while short-handed.

The scoring didn’t stop there as Kalder Varga took the puck from a defender and blasted a shot for his first career WHL goal.

Iginla added an empty net goal later in the game and the Rockets held on for a 4-0 win over the Wild.

Jari Kykkanen got his first win of the season after stopping all 26 shots he faced in net, marking his fifth career WHL shutout.

The Rockets will remain on the road today as they take on the Tri-City Americans.

The team will return home to host the Victoria Royals this Wednesday at Prospera Place.
