A young Kelowna woman has officially released her debut album, Whirlwind, and is celebrating with a launch event party at the Hyatt Place from 7-9 pm tonight.
Jessica Le spent the past few years writing this eight-track album on her own, and Dan Harden from The Record Room was the mixing and mastering engineer that helped produce the recorded versions.
“For this project specifically, there is a mixture of ballads and upbeat tunes expressing the ups and downs about life and the hardships you go through with heartbreak and loneliness,” Le explains.
The 22-year-old singer-songwriter describes her music as adult contemporary and a “diary in song.”
“It’s a super vulnerable thing for me because I am sharing a lot of my own emotions, but I want people to feel understood and like they can relate to something,” she says.
“When you don't have someone to turn to, music is a perfect place to just not feel alone, so that's what I want people to feel from my music.”
Those attending the Whirlwind release party will get to watch Le perform all of her new tracks.
“I’ll be doing mostly acoustic versions of my songs,” she says. “Invite your friends and family to come out, support and celebrate.”
