The race to win Kelowna’s newest provincial riding is going to feature a familiar name.
City councillor Loyal Wooldridge announced this morning that he is seeking the BC NDP nomination in the brand new Kelowna-Centre riding.
Wooldridge is a two-time councillor in Kelowna, earning the final spot on council in 2018 before shooting up the ranks with the second-most votes in 2022.
A Central Okanagan resident for three decades, Wooldridge has lived within the newly-established Kelowna-Centre riding for the last 19 years.
He says he’s passionate about serving his community and advocating for what matters most to people in Kelowna, promising to push for ‘Made in Kelowna’ solutions in Victoria.
"Kelowna deserves a voice in government so that people see local solutions in provincial decisions - it’s crucial to have a Kelowna lens focused on results for Kelowna," Wooldridge says.
"I support the bold efforts the BC NDP government has made to address big issues and contribute to healthy communities.”
He adds: “We need to continue working hard to make more housing available, add more child care options, reduce congestion on the streets, make them safer, and strongly support business.”
KelownaNow has secured an exclusive interview with Wooldridge this morning, which will be published for our readers and viewers later today.
