‘First of its kind’: Local company launches the Spontaneous Wine Tour

An Okanagan company has excitedly launched a new kind of wine tour.

According to Cheers Okanagan Tours and Transportation (COTT), research shows that 85% of leisure travellers decide on activities only after having arrived at their destination.

It was with that in mind that the business decided to launch the "first-of-its-kind" Spontaneous Wine Tour, a perfect option for those looking to book a classic Okanagan experience at the last minute.

“Reservation requirements and venue capacities often hamper traveller spontaneity,” explained a release from the company.

“However, in collaboration with local wineries, COTT has secured unprecedented standing reservations, alleviating the need for travellers to book a minimum of 48-72 hours in advance.”

COTT adds that the innovative new tour category allows visitors to get easy access to a quality wine tour experience at the spur of the moment.

“Simultaneously, this pioneering tour product provides a valuable solution to hospitality staff who are frequently asked if they can arrange a wine tour on short notice, often on the same day,” the COTT release said.

It’s a public tour, which means you’ll likely meet some new friends whether you go as a single, a couple or even a small group.

COTT says It will feature a knowledgeable tour guide, down-to-earth tasting education, tastings at three wineries and great views, all at a leisurely pace.

Two tours a day will depart from near the Kelowna Visitors Centre at 10 am and 2 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the end of September.

The cost is $149 per person, which includes tasting fees, gratuity and tax, and the tour lasts 3.5 hours.
