Youth under the age of 18 will once again be getting access to discounted transit and Parkinson Recreation Centre passes this summer.
The Rec & Ride Summer Youth pass is returning for a second year.
The pass is $20 for kids up to 12 and $50 for youth aged 13-18 and provides access to local transit and the PRC throughout July and August.
“Last year’s response to the pass was overwhelming and we are thrilled to once again offer this program which helps inspire kids and youth to get active with us while they’re out of school for the summer, along with the ride to get here via BC Transit,” says Lisa Ruether, Recreation Services Supervisor.
Passes can be purchased in-person at the PRC starting June 20 and will be valid from June 28 until Sept. 2.
For a limited time, provided on a first come, first served basis, 2024 Rec & Ride passes will be 25% off with financial support form the Stober Foundation.
First time pass holders must be present at the time to have their photos taken.
Identification is required for youth aged 13 and up, including school ID or a driver’s licence.
According to the city, adults accompanying a youth with a Rec & Ride pass will be offered a$2 drop-in fee “to encourage families to participate together.”
