It's the expected and desired reaction.
People step into Honce Dentistry and are awe-struck.
The all-white, minimalist decor is framed by three hallways, all leading treatment rooms with the most advanced dental equipment and technology and expansive views of the city and lake.
On a sunny day, as it is today, it's even more spectacular.
"I love it," said dentist Dr. Mark Honce, who owns and operates the practice with his dad, Dr. Myles Honce.
"We're the most high-tech dental practice and this location and setting complements that."
Honce Dentistry recently opened on the 17th floor of Landmark 7, the tallest office building in Kelowna at 23 storeys.
Today, there was an open house for neighbours in the Landmark District to drop by, existing dental clients to check out the new space and potential patients to find out if they want to make the switch to Honce.
Since 1975, Dr. Myles, and later his son, operated Honce Dentistry out of a ground-floor location in Rutland.
"When we outgrew that location and looked at moving, we asked ourselves: Do we do this on the ground floor again?" said Mr. Mark.
"But, street-level is old school. So, we decided to go high and build the neatest and cleanest and most-advanced practice with the best views."
Dr. Mark explained that a dental office has loyal customers and those clients spread positive word of mouth (no pun intended) that helps bring in more patients.
As well, much of Honce Dentistry's marketing is done on social media.
So, having a practice visible from the street in a ground-floor location isn't necessary anymore.
Each one of the nine hygiene rooms and six operatory rooms has a killer city, park or lake view.
All the inner workings of the practice are in offices or rooms with no view, so the scenery is kept strictly for the patients and the dentists, hygienists and assistants working on them.
Some of the high tech that puts Honce Dentistry in the forefront is the Solea laser
The laser can replace both the freezing needle and dental drill for a lot of the simple dental restorations that, in the past, we would have had required a needle and freezing.
This anesthesia-free treatment is a remarkable advancement in dentistry.
"Busy people, especially businesspeople, really appreciate appointments that can eliminate the post hassle of being frozen” said Dr. Myles.
“When we administer anesthetic, we know that talking, eating, and the loss of facial muscle tone interfere with people simply leaving our office and carrying on with their busy lives and businesses. It’s about eliminating all of those issues when it can be utilized.”
“We’ve had patients leave after having Solea treatment and tell everyone in their family and friend groups about how it made their treatment simpler and more enjoyable," said Dr. Myles.
"It’s a huge paradigm shift in the ease of delivery for certain types of treatment.”
Honce's services range from comprehensive aesthetic dental treatments and dental implant placement to general dental care and Solea treatments, too.
