Let’s face it: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's even better when that first meal is tasty and delicious. After all, what’s not to love about breakfast? Whether you like it sweet or savoury, there are options for everyone. For those days when a bowl of Puffed Wheat just won’t do, here are the top local picks according to the 2015-2016 Best of Kelowna survey.

The Bohemian Cafe & Catering

Beyond their regular menu items, “The Boh” (as it’s often called by its regulars) crafts daily and seasonal breakfast specials. For example, The Boh’s Eggs Benedict with Armstrong Asparagus and Grilled Tomato (pictured above) is available only when Armstrong asparagus is in season. It’s a harbinger of the many local fruits and vegetables to come each spring! #nomnom

The Jammery

Featured on the Food Network’s “You Gotta Eat Here” and located on seven acres just north of Kelowna, the Jammery is a favourite for locals and foodie tourists alike. The Jammery is famous for their homemade jams, jellies and other spreads, as these form the perfect compliment to their ‘all you can eat Golden Belgian Waffles'!

Cora’s

Inspired by family traditions, customer requests and some outlandish suggestions from her children, Cora designed her new breakfasts to fit with the current trend towards healthy eating. This means there's lots of fresh fruit served with her meals. The Samira Wake Up (shown above), which comes with your choice of cheese and toast, is a classic example of what’s different at Cora.

Okanagan Street Food

Chef Neil Schroeter puts an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Pictured is Okanagan Street Food’s take on Huevos Rancheros, a grilled tortilla with caramelized onions, black beans, scrambled eggs, roast chorizo, pico de gallo, creme fraiche, and cilantro!

De Dutch Pannekoek (Pancake) House

The Canadian Pannekoek is a favourite of this restaurant's guests. It’s served with de bacon, eggs, tomatoes and genuine maple syrup, which makes it a very Canadian twist on a Dutch staple.

International House of Pancakes (IHOP)

Stacked with authentic country flavor, IHOP’s fluffy buttermilk pancakes are the signature favourite they’re famous for.

The other runners up in the 2015 Best of Kelowna competition's breakfast category were the Pepper Pot Grill, Mad Mango and the Cherry Pit Restaurant.
