Gem Lake will open earlier than ever next season following trail upgrades

Another season, another round of exciting improvements for Big White Ski Resort.

Crews have been hard at work this summer constructing a new trail that will allow skiers and snowboarders to start shredding the Gem Lake Express Chair earlier than ever before.

The new “Village Way Return” trail will provide riders access to the Westridge side of the mountain with 30 to 40 centimeters snow base.

“Normally, Big White gets the Gem Lake chair spinning near Christmas time, but with the new Village Way return, it’ll be weeks earlier!” stated the mountain in a release.

The new trail represents a $500,000 investment on Big White's behalf and will also be adding larger capacity cabins to Lara's Gondola in the Village.
