Big White announces early opening for 61st season

Big White has announced it will be opening early for its 61st season.

After 17 cm of fresh snow fell overnight, bringing the alpine bass in some area to over 100 cm, the ski hill will be opening six days ahead of schedule.

Starting Friday, the Ridge Rocket Express will be open with runs like Easy Out, Highway 33 and the legendary Sewas ready for riders.

Additionally, the Plaza Chair and Gondola will be back in action at 8:45 on Nov. 22.

To celebrate the early start to another skiing and snowboarding season, lift tickets will be available at half-pice on opening day and until further notice.

Big White was originally set to open on Nov. 28.
