Meet Trevor. Trevor has lived in Kelowna for 6 months. He owns his own photography company specializing in business headshots and portraits. When he isn't busy capturing people, he volunteers his time capturing dogs at dog daycares in the community.
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
Toronto originally, we've been in Kelowna for 6 months!
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My wife. She is my rock, my life coach, my best friend.
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Bean Scene for sure! Love their Americanos!
Describe yourself in one word.
Comedian.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
China. I love to be immersed in other cultures, try the food, experience how they live!
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Hiking any or all of the trails and mountains here!
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I play Ultimate Frisbee. I didn't have my sports clothing with me, so a friend gave me a pair of scrubs (hospital clothing). He cut it into shorts and a t-shirt, but the material was like wearing steel wool! My skin was raw by the end of the game!
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
My wife. Sounds corny, but it's true. She is an accomplished professional and a super smarty. She makes me want to be a better person, to try harder and not give into stress. I would never have started my photography business if it wasn't for her!
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Going to parking lot carnivals! As a child it was a magical place with rides and games! It looks super sketchy now, but back then it was like a mini Disneyland!
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I am a big softy for dogs (I have two), so I like to volunteer with local dog daycares to do portraits of owners and their dogs for charity.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
How the media treats world news. There is so much good that happens but no one talks about it!
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
The top of Kuipers peak. It can get busy, but it's an amazing place to quickly disappear and enjoy Kelowna views!
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would love to see the Artist community grow and thrive!
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The people for sure! It's hard to find someone who isn't easy to speak to!
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Travel to China!
Skydive (but that is a distant bucket list item).
Buy a Tesla...don't judge me!
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I love to sing! In the shower, car, my studio...anywhere I can!

Why did you get into/start this business?
I had bad headshots taken of me in 2010, hated the experience! Photography was a hobby for me, but I realized that there was a better way to take pictures of people without them hating it! I turned that into my process and business!
What is the goal of your business?
To eliminate bad headshots!
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
We had a stillborn daughter in 2017. It's the hardest struggle we have ever endured, but we used that to make a number of positive changes in our life.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Always the same, never look back with regrets!
What do you always find yourself saying?
"It's all good."

Adversity is a chance to logically plan your next step, take advantage of it!
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
John Legend, my favourite performer! I'm learning to play the Piano again, he would be amazing to learn from, even with just one day!
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
We need to support the local economy!
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My Photography business!
