Meet Lisa Kolar. She was born in Thompson, Manitoba, but moved to sunny Kelowna in 1970!
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My rock and husband of 27 years! He is the kindest human I have ever met!
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Too many to choose one! Buy and support local always, please!
Describe yourself in one word.
Determined.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Spain! I need to eat my way through Spain!
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Eating locally first, and then... Biking, hiking, running and walking through this beautiful city!
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Gosh, I am sure there have been a million things but I am blank for one right now.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
The ladies at TWP Fitness inspire me every day! Watching them push themselves and be uncomfortable every day on their fitness journey inspires me! We have seen ladies become healthy enough to stop taking medications such blood pressure pills, diabetes meds and much more! Some go on to run marathons, triathlons, trail races and spartan races. The body is an amazing thing!
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I think for me it would be the simplicity of the childhood that I was fortunate enough to have. We played! Outside playing until someone called you in for a meal or the night! I wish that for children today!
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I truly like to give back wherever I can. This has always been important to me and my family as we have been very fortunate in life. We meet weekly as a family to discuss what volunteer work or fundraising we are working on. We just finished up a fundraising campaign for COHA and proudly raised $25,000! Last weekend we hosted a run along with Inspire Health, and together raised close to $20,000 for cancer patients. We have also been fortunate enough to be involved with Karis Society, Mamas for Mamas, Bustin Loose Ladies and CMHA over the past year! We are definitely a busy family who are grateful!
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Hunger... no one should be hungry.
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
My home.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would love to see the city continue in the direction of more safe hiking, biking, walking and running paths so that fitness can be easier and more accessible for all! #movementproject
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The people and the seasons!
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Greece! I need to go visit Greece for my Mom who never did make it there!
2. Spain! I need to eat my way through Spain! Then maybe hike a portion of the Camino Trail.
3. Cycling! I would like to do a destination cycling trip with a group of friends.

To provide all women with a community of support and inspiration to improve their quality of life through physical fitness and healthy living.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Balance, for sure!
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would not change one single thing! (except smoking...I would change that)

This is a tough one as there as so many strong, inspiring women that I would love to speak with, but I think today I will go with Oprah! I would love to hear her story directly from her. She overcame so many obstacles in life!
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Please, please support your local independents! They work so very hard to make our community a better place for all of us!
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
I have to say, my two beautiful daughters! Watching them grow into the beautiful, strong, independent and caring women that they are is the best thing that has happened in my life! Also, I am proud to say I will be a grandmother soon!
