Back to our favourite place on the island of Kauai.

Greenhawk! I am also a horse person and my friend, Kristen, owns the local franchise! I love the smell of saddlery. Next would be Chapters. I love books and stationary.

Riding my horses and playing with my animals on our farm.

Totally depends on where they are from!

So many memories riding horses and travelling to competitions with them and my father.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I am a high school teacher, this is my way of giving back to the community.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Overpopulation and global warming. We need to do a better job taking care of our planet.
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
The farmers market on Saturday with my children.
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
At home! We are lucky enough to live up in Joe Rich and we have the quiet and space that I love. There is a small regional park near us also that is so much fun to play in Mission Creek in August, when the creek is low.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would love to see more community space for teens.
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The variety in the landscape and that we have four distinct seasons. We are so lucky to live in this valley.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
More travel. I don't have a working list, but I would love to get to as many places in the world as I can.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I grew up competing with my horses. I made several provincial teams and represented BC internationally. One of my proudest achievements.
What is the name of your business/organization?
Rodan and Fields
Why did you get into/start this business?
I had always had terrible skin. Very sensitive, red, irritated and prone to acne. A childhood friend got into the business and I decided to give the acne line a try. Two weeks in and my skin was the best that it had ever been. I called her back and told her I wanted in as a consultant!
What is the goal of your business?
I want to share these products with people, they have changed my life in very positive ways and I want to share those opportunities with as many people as I can. Our company motto is 'Life Changing Skincare' and it truly has been that for myself, my family and my team of consultants.
What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
Balancing time! Between teaching full-time, family, our hobby farm, friends and Rodan and Fields, life is busy. However, I wouldn't change it!
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
No, I am good with how it all started!
What do you always find yourself saying?
'It's all good!?'
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My Dad. He passed away from cancer 12 years ago. I miss him terribly.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It keeps the small businesses, the entrepreneur in business. You are supporting your friends, not a major corporation when you are buying from a small shop or a 'mompreneur'.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
That answer has to be my kids. I can't believe that I have two such wonderful little humans.
Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My husband, Aaron Volk, he is amazing. He is a full-time teacher, amazing father, very patient husband and he is one of the Captains in the Joe Rich Fire Department. He is continuously giving to his family and community.
