Meet Adam! Adam is originally from Toronto. He enjoys hiking the many scenic trails here in the Okanagan and spending some quality time with his daughter.
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
Toronto
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My daughter because she is my entire world. Her smile, innocence and personality make me experience a type of love I never knew was within me.
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Scandia Golf and Games. Probably because I love to shoot little basketballs and make myself feel like a giant. I'm also just a huge dork that loves any sort of game.
Describe yourself in one word.
Loyal
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Anywhere with no wifi. I wrote wife accidentally, lol. Wifi. Just anywhere to disconnect - perhaps the Maldives or Bora Bora.
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Hiking. The scenery in Kelowna is one of the best in the world. I love finding trails and exploring the land off the main roads.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I asked out a girl in Grade 5 in front of her friends and she said yes and then said "pyschhhhhh". That was an epic fail.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Mass Shootings. They are so tragic and I wish that in someway they could just stop, forever. They are such a waste of innocent lives.
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
I would just drive up to Vernon and down to Osoyoos, depending on how much time I needed. I find driving cathartic to be so lucky to have this scenery, it's my happy place.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Honestly, I feel Kelowna's doing pretty awesome just how it is. The people are friendly and warm, the community is doing well, it's safe, etc. I wouldn't change much.
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The people, 100%.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
I've always wanted to go to Tokyo, Japan. Something about it seems exciting and different. Everyone I have spoken to who has gone there has said it is a place you must travel to. Also I love scuba diving. I've never had the fortune of swimming with a whale shark and thus that is a solid bucket list item. And although I wouldn't say this is a big deal to me, I do want to hit Burning Man at some point.
Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I have a dog named Fluff Daddy - he's a St. Berdoodle.
How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Instagram: @adamincolor
What is the name of your business/organization?
Hopscotch Festival
Why did you get into/start this business?
I love people so when I realized I could help out on this awesome event for charity and offer people an amazing experience at the same time, it just felt like the right move.
What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Pressure. There are SO many moving parts at an event like Hopscotch and making sure that the most amount of people are happy and all are safe just brings A LOT of pressure on me and my team.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
So many things the same, so many things differently.
What do you always find yourself saying?
"It is what it is." It's such a stupid, obvious statement but too often we assume we can change the past. We can't. Just accept reality and move forward best as possible.
Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Find happiness in your own reality and enjoy the present. Once you find happiness in the now, you can always strive to be better but you don't need to count on being better to make you happy."
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Oh my gosh - there are so many. Honestly, probably Trump. Not because I like him, but just because I want to experience his reality for one day.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Professionally - just growing Hopscotch to the size it is.
