Crawford/Canyon Falls is located at the top of Crawford estate subdivision. It took us just over an hour and a half to complete, but there were a few stops along the way to take photos and of course breaks to enjoy the view.
Your time may vary, based on your speed and how many breaks you decide to take.
There is a sign for the falls at the beginning of the trail near a drain leading you to a path down toward the creek, which you can easily follow. The path will bring you to a secured ladder lowering to the creek side which you can follow to the first falls.
The trail then continues to the larger set of falls. Be prepared, in order to get around you will have to climb a boulder! It can easily be done but be sure to do it with caution. Unfortunately the ropes to the falls have been cut down, so please be careful when climbing.
The Crawford/Canyon Falls hike is 12km in length and one of my favourites in the Central Okanagan. It’s the best for an after work getaway and is only 20 minutes from downtown Kelowna.
Hike Difficulty:
The trail to the first falls at the bottom of the creek is moderate.
The trail to the second falls is moderate to difficult.
Attire Needed:
Hiking shoes/runners
Gloves for rope (when it is replaced)
Backpack with water and snacks
Directions:
Crawford Falls is located on Bellevue Creek and can be reached by travelling on Gordon Drive to DeHart Road; DeHart Road to Crawford Road; Crawford Road to Westridge Road.
Then turn on to Canyon Ridge Crescent and finally onto Canyon Falls Court. Be advised that this is a dead end. The trail is right there, you can’t miss it!
Other Notes:
You can bring your furry friend! As long as he’s on a leash.
I hope that you enjoy the hike and a more clear perspective on the trails current status!
