Sugar Free Please Café has opened at #102 – 2041 Harvey Avenue in the Woodfire Bakery complex, facing Harvey Avenue. Owned and operated June Alexander, the café is bright and cheery and seats about 30 inside. Sugar Free Please is all sugar free and use almond flour in their baking and high fiber substitutions in their confections and chocolate. Along with a good variety of assorted baking, confections and chocolate products, they offer breakfast items such as breakfast panini’s, avocado toast and waffles. They also offer soups, spinach artichoke dip, meat pies and flatbread. Sugar Free Please has a full line of specialty coffee, tea, and drinks with sugar free syrups. Specials are Tapas Tuesdays, Waffle Wednesdays and Triple Treat Mornings that gives you a free upgrade to large, a free syrup or a free alternative milk if you order from their organic espresso bar before 10:00 a.m. In the café, you can also purchase Sugar Free Please Food products, which is also owned and operated by June. The company manufactures many varieties of sugar and gluten free (KETO) candy with only zero or one percent net carbs per serving and zero grams sugar. June sent me on my way with a cheese scone and some brittle, bark and moka roka, which was all delicious. Open Tuesday to Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Kelowna Capri Rotary Club is sending a 40 ft. container of medical supplies to Ukraine. A fundraising dinner co-sponsored with Kelowna Stands With Ukraine with traditional Ukrainian food, beverages, entertainment and auction will be held on November 16th at 5:30 p.m. in the Ukrainian Orthodox Parish Hall, 1933 Barlee Road. Dinner tickets are $60.00 and can be purchased on-line through EVENTBRITE and/or Club Rotarians. Donations to the cause can also be made by calling Lockie Bracken at 250-869-5432 and a charitable receipt can be issued for amounts over $50.00. The Capri Rotary Club engaged with Rotary Clubs in the Vancouver area to secure the medical supplies to be shipped.

Vik Bains, Branch Manager of TD Canada Trust, Plaza 33 Branch in Rutland has won his age group at the recent 2024 Apple Marathon, Apple Race Series. Vik was successful in his age group of 40 to 49 years and finished in 3 hours, 22 minutes and 22 seconds. In 2019 Vik won the overall entire race in 2 hours, 38 minutes and 8 seconds. Vik’s coach is former Kelowna Rockets Captain Jason Deleurme.

The Annual Family Monster Bash with another day of family-friendly spooktacular fun is Sunday October 27th at MNP Place from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The bash is free to attend but bring a donation for the food bank.
