The Annual Kelowna Christmas Toy Run 2023 for the Salvation Army is asking for your support by raising funds and collecting a variety of gifts for children of all ages, with donations, prizes to add to a raffle and toys for the families. On November 25th starting at 8:00 a.m. the Salvation Army and the volunteers of the Toy Run will be hosting a large event at High Noon Park, 4720 Old Vernon Road to accept all toy donations and selling raffle tickets for the prizes donated by locals and businesses. There will be a large group of 4x4 trucks and rigs to view on display as well as after the fundraiser they will all disperse on their 4x4’s and drive through the postil area. The Toy Run organizers are Adam Jefferies and Nikki-Lynn Mckee-Lanchick.
Andrea Campbell is the Lead Elf at Project Christmas Elf (PCE) that is here to help Kelowna and area families looking for some support this holiday season. The project is based on the idea of community members helping community members. People in need can privately reach out to the PCE website at www.projectchristmaself.ca and fill out an intake form sharing their story. The PCE Elves will match a family with a sponsor. Anyone who wishes to sponsor a family can also fill out an intake form to be a sponsor. Everyone is anonymous during this process and the elves makes sure gifts get to their destination by Christmas. Christmas Love for the Okanagan is a project that is organizing the collection of homemade Christmas tree ornaments from people across Canada for people who lost their homes in the wildfires. Started by Trina Vercholuk, Tammy Torgerson and Janelle Spilak, their wish is that this small gift brings happiness this holiday season and helps the families build a new Christmas collection. They are accepting homemade tree ornaments until December 1. Start crafting, share this message, and nominate an impacted family.
