For years, a centrally-located Kelowna restaurant has been changing hands as different leasees attempted to create a successful business in the high-traffic location. But after many stops and starts, Best Western Kelowna decided that it was time to take matters into their own hands. The result is Cornerstone Grill, a new restaurant that is ready to cater to locals and tourists alike.

“What was really needed at this location was a casual restaurant, managed with passion, commitment, and follow-through in offering consistently amazing food and service that would leave you wanting to come back again and again. A place where you could conduct a business luncheon, or girlfriends wine time, or meeting your friends and simply socializing and sharing,” explained Brenda Rayburn, Director of Sales and Marketing at Best Western Kelowna.

With decades of experience in the food and beverage industry, Rayburn and her team know the formula necessary to create a successful restaurant. Guests at Cornerstone Grill can expect a casual atmosphere, friendly and fun service, and high-quality, reasonably priced food.

“After you’ve dined here, if we were to ask you what came to mind when you thought of Cornerstone Grill, our goal is to hear, ‘Fresh, local, flavorful, great value, highly addictive dishes, amazing house-made food, playful, thoughtful, and inviting. And general awesomeness,” laughs Rayburn. “Combine that with enjoying our fun, knowledgeable staff, the hum of laughter and conversation, and smiles everywhere and I tell you, we finally got it right!”

The kitchen at Cornerstone Grill is headed up by Chef Cliff Huck, who has more than 15 years experience and has previously worked at the Grande Rockies Resort in Canmore and Spirit Ridge Resort & Vineyards in Osoyoos. Chef Huck’s food philosophy includes sourcing quality and local ingredients, including local dairy. Much of the beef used at Cornerstone is also local, coming from 63 Acres farm in Armstrong, and Chef Huck and his team break it down themselves.

“Cornerstone Grill is really in keeping with the hotel’s stewardship towards environmental sustainability. Everything is made from scratch, in-house, including all soups, breads and sauces. Dietary concerns are taken seriously with gluten-free options available for pizzas and flatbreads. We can’t leave out desert; Having our own pastry chef has been such a bonus. Using all things Okanagan, the freshness and flavours…well all I can say is another tough food decision for you,” teases Rayburn.
