Residents are invited to the World of Wheels Car Show this May long weekend.
The show, which will be celebrating its debut in West Kelowna after operating in Peachland for 25 years, will be taking over Kinsmen Athletic Park from 11 am until 4 pm on Sunday.
The free, family-friendly event will feature a wide array of vehicles consisting of all years, makes and models including outdoor adventure and electric.
“There will also be food trucks, vendors, fun zone, beer garden and live music,” say organizers.
Past shows have seen more than 500 classic cars, trucks, motorcycles and antique boats participate. Below is a full map of the event.
As a result of the car show, people can expect to see a few road closures and minor delays around the Shannon Lake Road, Shannon Way and Asquith Road intersections while volunteers and participants set up.
“The family-friendly event anticipates a large number of attendees, and motorists are advised to exercise caution when driving in the area,” the city says.
In addition to the minor traffic delays, people are reminded that Kinsmen park will be closed form 6 am until about 7 pm on Sunday, however, the playground will be open during the day.
Volunteers and traffic control personnel will be in the area and on site all day to help guide traffic and participants.
Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles, area residents, the Westside Residential Waste Disposal and Recycling Centre and neighbouring businesses, including Shannon Lake Convenience Store and Neighbours Pub/Liquor Store, the city says in the release.
