Kids get out safely as fire damages Kelowna home

Four people, including two children, got out safely after a fire at a home in Kelowna on Thursday.

The Kelowna Fire Department (KFD) said they were told about the blaze, in the 400 block of Edith Gay Road, at around 4:15 pm.

Captain Jason Picklyk said in a public notice that the fire at the two-story home was “quickly knocked down” by firefighters.

The interior and exterior of the attached garage at the home “sustained damage,” however.

Captain Picklyk added: “Two adults and two children were home at the time and all occupants made it out safely without injury.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The KFD said it dispatched three engines, one safety unit, one rescue unit, one command unit and 15 staff to deal with the fire.
