A Kamloops man has been charged for allegedly assaulting a police officer and driving offences.
According to a news release from the Kamloops RCMP, an officer was patrolling the North Shore on Saturday, shortly before 5 pm, when he stopped a white car near 13th Avenue and Halston Avenue.
While the officer was investigating, the vehicle allegedly fled the scene.
“Officers did not enter into a pursuit, but did relocate the vehicle near Windsor Avenue, where it again allegedly fled, this time onto Highway 5 North,” said Cpl Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, in the release.
“Soon after it was located in Barriere, then in Clearwater, and was successfully stopped in Little Fort by Clearwater RCMP officers.”
The driver was arrested and transferred back to Kamloops.
Brian Stuckless, 30, is charged with assaulting a police officer, dangerous driving, and three counts of failure to stop for a peace officer.
He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on May 24, say the RCMP.
