This national holiday commemorates one of the most significant moments in Italy’s history, marking the day in 1946 when Italians voted to end the monarchy and establish a republic. This day helps serve as a reminder of Italy’s journey from a time of dictatorship and war to a time of democracy and freedom. Across Italy you will find grand parades, concerts and large military spectacles, so the Kelowna Canadian Italian Club would like to bring some of this fun and excitement to our own community. On June 2nd we would like to invite you to embrace this day and help us rejoice in our shared heritage to reflect on the importance of our democratic freedom. We will be fluttering our Italian flags outside our Clubhouse and encouraging friends and families to gather together. We will have the chance to enjoy regional delicacies, participate in activities and take in the surrounding entertainment and displays.
