Improvements to Rutland Centennial Park are underway, which includes an expansion to the soccer field. The City of Kelowna said that the installation of irrigation and seeding is currently happening.

The grass field, valued at $450,000 will be able to morph into three mini soccer fields to accommodate more players, if the sport was to grow in the community.

“Another project will begin in April through to summer. We’ll be building an orchard-themed accessible playground for all children of abilities,” said senior project manager, Andrew Gibbs.

“The new upgrades will ensure the park continues to contribute to an inclusive, vibrant and growing community for many generations to come.”

Last June the federal government announced that they would invest $50,000 to help build the playground at Rutland Centennial Park.

The field is expected to be open this summer.
